Teachers who have just entered the profession and those with less than three years experience from the Western Cape, will have an opportunity to know better about conditions of service, their rights as workers, employment benefits and professional development opportunities at an event to be hosted by the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) in the province. Called the Novice Teacher Day, the event will be addressed by representatives from the Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC), Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS), Government Employees Housing Scheme (GEHS), Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF), South African Council for Educators (SACE) and the Education Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA).
