The President of the Republic of South Africa (RSA) and Commander-in–Chief of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) proclaimed that 21 February each year will be observed and commemorated as Armed Forces Day (AFD). The Chief of the South Africa National Defence Force(C SANDF), General Solly Shoke, has authorised the hosting of the Armed Forces Day Celebration 2018 and the commemoration of the sinking of the SS Mendi to be held on Wednesday, 21 February 2018 in Kimberley, Northern Cape. Members of the media are herein cordially invited to apply for media accreditation in order to attend the AFD 2018 in Kimberley, Northern Cape. No member of the media will be granted access to the venues of the events without the required accreditation in hand.
