The Thabo Mbeki Foundation in partnership with the University of South Africa (UNISA) wishes to invite members of the Media fraternity to the 9th Thabo Mbeki Africa Day Lecture. The Theme for this year’s Africa Day Lecture is: “Gender Equality and Women Empowerment: A Necessary Paradigm Shift in Africa’s Quest for Democratisation, Development and Poverty Eradication.” This year’s lecture will be delivered by Dr Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka. Dr Mlambo-Ngcuka is United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women. Currently in her second term, she was sworn into office on 19 August 2013 and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this position, having devoted her career to issues of human rights, equality and social justice.
