The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] will tomorrow [Thursday March 14, 2019] convene a memorial lecture on the life and times of its founding General Secretary Cde Yure Mdyogolo in East London, Eastern Cape. Cde Mdyogolo was elected as the founding General Secretary of NEHAWU at its launching congress in June 1987. He passed away on the 6th November 1988 after falling from his flat in Johannesburg on the 5th floor. He played a pivotal role in building and growing the trade union movement in South Africa. His immense contribution in the liberation of South Africa will forever be etched in our memories and inspire us to ferociously fight against the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and poverty.
