Following his visit to Carletonville on Tuesday, 05 March 2019, the Minister requested the Minister of Police, Mr Bheki Cele, to attend to the situation of instability within and around the Sibanye-Stillwater operations. Tomorrow, 14 March 2019, both Ministers will meet with representatives of labour unions and the management of Sibanye-Stillwater. The Ministry of Mineral Resources respects the right of workers to protest. The right to strike must be exercised in a nonviolent manner and the rights of non-striking workers must not be hindered.
